Ruth Bryson
Chair of Trustees

Ruth is an ex-NYRO player. She had some tuition from Andrew Challinger, but is largely self-taught having “forgotten” to give up playing recorder once lessons stopped at primary school. For Ruth, NYRO’s work is really important to help more people from different backgrounds discover the joys of playing the recorder and she has made some great friends along the way.
These days Ruth is a professional actuary, working in financial services consulting, but still keeps up lots of musical activities in her spare time. As well as recorder, Ruth plays the oboe and helps to run a symphony orchestra in North London.
She was invited onto the NYRO committee in 2021 and became Chair soon after.
